What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is an international standard covering the quality management system (QMS) of a company or organization, whether private or public. The QMS consists of all necessary activities to deliver a product or service at the desired specification or requirement to meet or exceed customer satisfaction. These activities are organized in various processes with clear inputs and outputs. The cumulation of these processes and their interactions represent a system, thus the name “quality management system”.
Also, a quality management system goes far beyond the concept of quality assurance as it requires top management to be involved in high-level management activities that could impact the QMS, such as risk-based thinking, strategic direction and determination of external and internal business issues. International standards favour trades and access to markets throughout the world by emphasizing on standardization for businesses and organizations.
